Virtual Reality at Charlottesville HEP

The Virtual Reality system is up and running at the Charlottesville Hospital Education Program.  A high school student was the first to try it out during our Ancient Civilizations summer enrichment unit.  She explored King Tut’s tomb, learned about Egyptian burial practices and discovered Egyptian artifacts in the Discover Egypt app.  Then she traveled to Greece with Google Earth and walked among the ancient ruins, experiencing the architecture and culture of that time period.

The VR system and apps, enable student’s like this one to expand their knowledge of the world in a more interactive way from within the walls of the hospital classroom.  The old adage, “Our Universe is our classroom” is reality for students.
